Apparently, we got a ton of rain in Chicagoland last night. I slept through it all, but I woke up to flash flood warnings, and reports of lots of flooded basements and underpasses.

Traffic was crazy due to the flooded underpasses. It took me 45 minutes and four separate attempted routes to make it the four miles to work. Imagine my surprise to see a city bus stuck in the school's lawn.

The driver had gotten detoured off his route, and ended up in our long, U-shaped driveway. Just out of frame, to the left of the picture, is a low clearance roof. Of course the bus driver blew past the GIANT BRIGHT YELLOW clearance sign at the driveway's entrance. Our principal ran out there to guide the truck out backwards (we get a few trucks and buses a year who end up there), but this guy decides he's not backing up around the corner, and decides to gun it across the grass. You know, the soaking wet, completely saturated squishy grass. Dumb ass.

Here's the damage the idiot left behind.

Sometimes I miss Chicagoland.

In a similar vein.

I worked for a Suburban (Broadview *cough*) Public Works dept for a while. They ordered pallets of Sod for City Hall.

The smart move was to grab the shop Fork Truck and move the pallets from the Semi to the work area.

The brilliant move was to drive the Fork Truck off the sidewalk and on to the grass..

I can't say things are much different in the Quad Cities.

Man, that's a mess.

Poor grass and poor ElDorado National Axess...such a nice looking bus.

A service truck came and pushed it through the grass.
